What is ozone therapy and its benefits?
Ozone is a vasodilator, this means it increases circulation and also delivers higher levels of oxygen to cells, tissues and organs. Oxygenation is paramount in providing vital components for healing, immunity and even anti-aging. It supports blood and liver detoxification, modulates the immune system and manages inflammation. It is one of our favorite tools for priming the body to receive other treatments such as nutrient therapy, stem cell therapies, cancer care treatments, and anti-oxidant therapies to manage oxidative stress in the body. It is administered intravenously, rectally or by a special sauna where your head is placed outside the treatment zone. We also use it in our aesthetics and joint patients as part of an injection process for rejuvenation.
Pathogens of all kinds are anaerobic, meaning they cannot survive an oxygen rich environment. So whether it be virus, bacteria, fungus, yeast, mold, etc., ozone can be a very effective and safe treatment option to not only treat these conditions but protect us from contracting an illness that could eventually require antibiotics or bigger drugs with potentially harmful side-effects.
Ozone can also be used as a great tool for maximizing athletic performance and recovery. Ozone has the ability to repair and regenerate tissue after an intense workout or race or competition. It can give an aerobic advantage for endurance and can also work synergistically with other performance treatments such as PEMF, nutrition, cryotherapy, hyperthermia and more.
In this same way, ozone can be considered an anti-aging method to decrease degeneration of cells and tissue keeping not only our internal organs healthy, but allowing our skin, hair and nails to also stay vibrant and youthful.

Ozone Joint Therapy (OJT)
OJT is a natural regenerative therapy used for any joint pain or injury. Due to the nature of ozone, it can work synergistically with the body, providing a nutrient oxygen supply to a specific area or joint. We know that the leading cause of degeneration or aging is a lack of nutrition and oxygen due to deficit. It can also be caused by poor circulation since red blood cells are responsible for transporting nutrients and oxygen to a given tissue. As with any living organism, if necessities of life are not available, they degenerate and even die. Can we entirely stop the aging process? No, but can we slow it down and make it more enjoyable? Absolutely!
OJT therapy is a natural, non-surgical, and minimally-invasive treatment made of two parts. The first part of the procedure adds the nutrients back into the injured area (i.e., vertebrae, ligament, tendon, muscle, connective tissue, joint space, etc.) by injecting a syringe of liquid vitamins and minerals. This solution of vitamins and minerals is homeopathic, which aids in controlling inflammation and swelling, allowing better circulation, which is vital to the delivery and assimilation process.
The second part of the process is the ozone, which is given soon after the vitamin and homeopathic mixture. It infiltrates the area and spreads the solution deeper than injection alone, increases circulation, modulates inflammatory responses, and expedites healing.
Combining these two elements causes the proliferation, regeneration, and rebuilding of new ligament and cartilage tissue in areas where they have become weak and unstable. Unlike steroid injections, which only lower inflammation for a short time, OJT assists in new tissue development, making it not only a pain management option but also an alternative to surgery, saving you time and money.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Blood platelets are fragmented pieces of a blood cell. They play an integral part of our healing processes, and have been used for decades in all areas of medicine and supported by literrally thousands of studies, many of which are peer reviewed clinical journals. These platelets also contain proteins that support cell growth and regeneration. We will draw a small portion your own blood and spin it in our state-of-the-art Magellan PRP device. This will give a super concentrated dose of PRP and will recruit your own stem cells to help the area treated regenerate stronger and healthier. Because the platelets we use are your very own, your body welcomes them. PRP is one of the safest procedures in this regard and has the ability to enhance many other procedures in the medical office.
PRP is not a stem cell treatment since blood does not house a good source of stem cells. However, stem cell treatments are an additional option for joint pain, injury and repair at Anatara Medicine and SF Stem Cell Center. We are happy to review the best options for you at your consultation.
